Tutors Needed

Thank you for your interest in becoming a tutor for an adult learner.

Tutoring can be a very rewarding experience. It can give you the opportunity to make a real difference in a person’s life, and enrich your own. We will provide you with training, resources and on-going support.

Adult Literacy Tutors help adult learners build basic reading, writing, math computer skills and essential work skills through one-to-one or small group instruction. Training
All volunteer tutors will receive a minimum of 10 hours of online training and mentoring.  One-to-one tutors will receive an additional 1-day Laubach Certification workshop.

Time and commitment
Commitment and responsibility varies with each volunteer position.

Here are the steps you will take to become an Adult Literacy Tutor:

  1. Download, print and complete the application form.
  2. Send the form to our Outreach Coordinator, Marilena Benak.
  3. Meet with a Program Coordinator so we can tell you more about the position and you can get all the information you need.
  4. Complete the training.
  5. Be matched with your student or group and start.
